Preview Stephen Friedman Gallery show

Craig Burnett

The off spring of Francis Picabia run amuck through contemporary art, and the range of media used by Dryden Goodwin suggests he is among the brood. For this show he will exhibit Stay, a video, and State, a series of etchings. Stay features images taken by Goodwin as he travels through canal, a tunnel and a forest, that play with motion and stasis. For State, the artist uses a single copper plate to make a sequence of images. The first is clear, but each subsequent one bears traces of the previous etching, and the series comes to resemble an increasingly complicated palimpsest of the artist's process.
